Southern Sports Group will be responsible for all branding, marketing communications and media relations for the Dixie200 Endurance Running Relay to be held March 22-23, 2013. The event features a 200-mile scenic course that begins just north of Atlanta, Georgia and utilizes the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga Trail System to bring running relay teams to the finish line at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama.

Teams for the Dixie200 Relay are generally made up of 4 to 12 runners who split 36 segments of varying distances. Designated exchange zones allow for team support vehicles to drop off and pick up runners as they make progress through the 200-mile route. “We’re thrilled to partner with one of the country’s premier endurance race management firms in Palmetto Race Group. Our new relationship allows us to combine our substantial endurance event marketing expertise with the first-class logistics and relay weekend production that Palmetto Race Group is known for,” said SSG President, Sandy Thompson.

“When we formed Palmetto Race Group to produce our first endurance running relay, we knew we wanted to offer races known for beautiful courses, well-executed race logistics, and of course a welcoming atmosphere. Partnering with Southern Sports Group to promote the Dixie200 Relay will help us expand our reach and grow our following through their industry-leading marketing and media relations tools,” said Kirk Sadler, Palmetto Race Group Co-Founder.

“Being avid endurance athletes ourselves, we have vast experience in adventure endurance relays. We want others to know what an incredible feeling it is to take a traditionally solo pursuit like running, and transform it into a team sport that builds camaraderie and sense of accomplishment that you simply can’t get from running on your own,” added Palmetto Race Group Co-Founder Brian Malak.

In addition to the Dixie200 Relay, Palmetto Race Group also offers endurance athletes racing opportunities through the popular Palmetto200 and Palmetto70 relays in South Carolina, and the Colonial200, an endurance relay that starts in the wine and horse country outside of Charlottesville, Virginia and finishes in historic Colonial Williamsburg.
